Frequently Asked Questions
Answers about renovating older pools, setting priorities, unfinished projects, timelines, service areas, insurance, working with the owner, and free estimates.
Can my older pool be renovated instead of replaced?
In most cases, yes. Pools forty or fifty years old can often be fully renovated with new plaster, tile, coping, drains, and skimmers. We inspect the structure first and explain what renovation will realistically involve. Many older pools surprise owners.
Which pool renovation should I do first if my budget is limited?
Start with repairs that protect the pool, such as structural cracks, failing expansion joints, and worn plaster. Tile, coping, and deck upgrades can follow later, though combining them together usually saves money and draining. We help you prioritize.
Will you finish a pool project another contractor left incomplete?
Yes. We have taken over remodels after previous contractors walked off the job. We evaluate completed work, explain what needs correcting, and provide a clear plan and price to finish the project properly. You deserve a finished pool.
How long does a typical pool renovation take?
Simple replastering may take about a week, while projects combining plaster, tile, coping, decking, and new features can take several weeks. Weather and material availability affect timing, and we provide a realistic schedule upfront. Delays are communicated promptly.
What areas does Aesthetic Pool and Patio Renovations serve?
We are based in Katy and serve Cinco Ranch, West Houston, Memorial Villages, Sugar Land, Cypress, Grand Lakes, Mission Bend, Houston, and surrounding communities throughout the greater Houston area. Call to confirm availability at your address.
Is Aesthetic Pool and Patio Renovations insured?
Yes. Aesthetic Pool and Patio Renovations is insured and holds a Certified Pool Operator license, giving homeowners confidence that their renovation is handled responsibly by a team that understands pool systems and water chemistry. Ask anytime.
Who will I work with during my renovation?
You work directly with owner Keith Smith. As an owner-operated company, we are on site for every project, answering questions, checking workmanship, and making sure the finished pool matches what we discussed. Communication stays direct and simple.
Are estimates free?
Yes. We provide free estimates for pool renovations, decks, concrete flatwork, water features, tile, coping, and spa additions. We visit your property, discuss your goals, and provide clear pricing with no obligation. Questions are always welcome.
Should I be home during the estimate visit?
It is helpful but not required. Being present lets you share ideas and ask questions directly, but we can also inspect the pool and follow up afterward with our recommendations and pricing. Either way works well.
Is fall or winter a good time to remodel my pool in Houston?
Yes. Cooler months are often ideal because the pool is not in heavy use, crews work more efficiently, and your renovated pool is ready to enjoy when warm weather returns in spring. Scheduling early secures your spot.
Are equipment upgrades part of a pool renovation?
They can. Pumps, filters, heaters, skimmers, and drains are often replaced during renovations to improve circulation and efficiency. We evaluate your equipment and recommend upgrades only when they will make a real difference. No unnecessary upsells.
What are your business hours?
Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Submit a request online anytime, and we will follow up during business hours to discuss your project and schedule a free estimate at your convenience.
Can you repair a leaking pool with structural cracks?
Yes. Structural cracks can cause leaks and surface damage. We locate and repair cracks during renovation, often while replastering, so the new surface sits on a sound shell and the pool holds water properly. Leaks waste water and money.
Do you replace skimmers and expansion joints?
Yes. Cracked skimmers and failed expansion joints are common sources of leaks and damage. We replace them during renovations or as standalone repairs, protecting your pool structure and surrounding deck from water intrusion. Small repairs prevent bigger ones.
How should I prepare my yard before work begins?
Clear a path from the street to the pool, move patio furniture and planters away from work areas, and secure pets. We discuss access, equipment placement, and scheduling details before the project starts. Good preparation keeps work moving.
